David M. “Turtle Dave” Casterline
Age 79, of Rural Ridge, Pennsylvania, passed away July 5, 2025.
David was born in Hornell, NY, the son of Lester and Virginia Johnson. He worked as a Machine Operator for Ingersoll-Rand, Inc. in Painted Post, NY.
He is survived by five children; sons, David D. ( Kim) Casterline of Rural Ridge, PA, and Kevin (Debbie) Ladd of Corning, daughters, Susan Fulkrod of Penn Yan, Jean Blake of Rochester, and Tammy Ladd (Mike Kopczyski) of Keuka Park; brothers, Lester (Diana) Johnson Jr., Geroge (Marcia) Johnson, Kevin (Herbert) Johnson, and Rickie Johnson; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and long time and special friend, Marilyn Cain of Penn Yan.
He was predeceased by his parents, as well as sisters, Patricia Gena, and Karen Johnson, and brother Daniel Johnson Sr.
David was an avid coin collector and trader. He owned and operated Little Indian Coin Shop in Corning. Davids greatest love was spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed hiking, especially numerous sections of the Appalachian Trail. He was a proud member of the International Association of Turtles, and was known to give turtles to everyone he met! Everyone knew him as Turtle Dave.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Weldon Funeral Home of Penn Yan.
