Deborah C. Baran

Deborah C. Baran, of Prattsburgh, New York age 67, passed away on June 9, 2026, at Geneva General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Deborah was a graduate of Prattsburgh Central School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree, graduating magna cum laude from St. Bonaventure University. She continued her education at the University of Texas at Dallas, earning an MBA. In 1989, Deborah moved to Big Spring, Texas, and began a career with Total Petrochemicals Refining, working in Texas, and Léon, France. After retiring from her 20 year career with this company, Deborah returned to Prattsburgh, New York, where she found great fulfillment in researching, preserving, and sharing the history, stories, and events of Prattsburgh and the surrounding communities. She was an active committee member of the Prattsburgh Alumni Association and took great pride in helping to keep local history alive. She also enjoyed raising her two cats, Maya and Genghis. 

Deborah was predeceased by her parents, Myron and Carolyn Baran. She is survived by her siblings: Sue Baran of Jamesville, New York; Dennis Baran of The Villages, Florida; and Patti (Russ) Kopylczak of Manlius, New York, along with several nieces and nephews. 

At this time, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. A private cremation will take place, and the family will gather in remembrance at a later date.
