Debra J. Lent, of Penn Yan, NY passed away in the presence of her loving family on May 23, 2026 at the age of 68.
Debbie was born in Newark, NY on June 26, 1957 and graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1975. She later returned to the school where she worked as the secretary for the Penn Yan Academy Guidance Office for over 20 years. She was deeply committed to her work and seeing the students grow brought her great joy.
She was predeceased by her mother and step father Geraldine and Charles Christensen. She passed on her beloved mother's birthday.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Megan Lent (Jonathan Bloom) of Rochester, and Alisha Bell (Adam Eshenaur) of Rochester; siblings, Ritchie Lent (Mary Laursen) of Penn Yan, Doug Christensen (Tina Snyder) of Penn Yan, Diane (Mark) McIntee of Spencerport, Dale (Roxanne) Christensen of Penn Yan, and Mark (Susan) Christensen of Vestal. She is also survived by her two grandchildren whom she adored, Harper and Ruthie Bloom, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered for her kind heart by many, including her dear friend Sue Comstock, Alisha's half-brother Justin Bell, and former students of Penn Yan Academy whose lives she impacted.
Debbie loved to spend her precious time gardening, taking care of her lawn, crafting, baking cookies to share for every major holiday, and sitting with a cat on her lap (Sophie and Gracie).
The family will receive friends at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan on Sunday (May 31st) from 1pm-3pm. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at the funeral home at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Keuka Comfort Care Home, PO Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527; Millie's Pantry, PO Box 734, Penn Yan, NY 14527; or Yates County Humane Society, PO Box 12, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
