George Otto Jensen

George Otto Jensen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on March 6, 1937, 

George was a lifelong resident of Penn Yan, New York, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, faith, and service to his community.

George was the devoted husband of Sharon Jensen for almost 20 years. Together, they shared a life filled with family, memories, and countless moments that will be treasured forever.

Family was at the heart of George's life. He was the loving father of Jeffrey (Jennifer) Jensen, Daren (Bonnie) Jensen, and Melody Jensen Kissel (Jerry). He was also a caring stepfather to Robin (Alan) Stevenson, and Brian (Deb) LaBarr. George was blessed with 11 grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine (Ronald) Kreiling, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

For much of his life, George was a dairy farmer at Geo-Mar Dairy Farm in Penn Yan, a third-generation family farm. Farming was more than a job to George—it was a way of life, a connection to his family and his community, and something he took great pride in. His dedication, work ethic, and love for the farm were a reflection of the man he was.

George's commitment to his community extended far beyond the farm. He devoted countless years to helping and serving others. He proudly served in the National Guard, was a Chief with the Benton Fire Department, served as Benton Town Supervisor, and worked as an EMT with the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He was also a member and Exalted Ruler of the Penn Yan Elks Club, and a member of the Penn Yan First Baptist Church.

After his farming career, George started a new chapter of life by opening not only his home, but his heart to others by becoming a Home Health care provider, compassionately caring for individuals with disabilities and special needs.

George will be remembered most for his kind, loving, and generous heart. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who always made others feel cared for. His willingness to help, serve, and give of himself was simply who he was. His family will carry his love, wisdom, and example with them always, cherishing the memories he gave them and the lasting impact he made on their lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 21, 2026 at the Penn Yan First Baptist Church at 12pm, with reception to follow.

George will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George's name to the Humane Society of Yates County (Shelter of Hope).
