George F VanSickle

February 18, 1938 — November 4, 2018

  George was born on February 18th, 1938 in Geneva to Myron and Lois Van Sickle.   He lived in Geneva until 1971 when he married Berdine Jensen Miller of Penn Yan and Penn Yan then became their home. He served in the Army from 1955-56 and Army Reserves from 1978-1979. George worked for the American Can Company for 30 years where he was a machinist. After retiring from American Can Company, he worked for a local car dealership for 9 years. George was a member of the Elks Lodge and served as an Exalted Ruler for 2 years in Geneva, member of the American Legion in Penn Yan and member of the Ark Masonic Lodge for 56 years. Survived by: His loving wife of 47 years, Berdine Three children - Pamela Griffith, William (Tammy) Van Sickle, and Susie Van Sickle all of Penn Yan. Grandchildren – Sarah (Nick) Essig of Massachusetts, Grace Griffith of China, and Jessica Villarreal & Erica Villarreal (Jonny Alcala) both of Texas. Great grandchildren – Sebastian Alcala of Texas and Matthew Essig of Massachusetts. Stepchildren – Deb Jensen, Sandy (Earl) Weaver, Wendy Miller, Robert (Amy) Miller, Kelly (Tom) Siwak, and Holly (Tom) Swarthout all of Penn Yan 15 Step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. Good friend Don Musso His cats Boots and Freddie Predeceased by: His parents- Myron and Lois, Sister and brother in law – Patricia and Richard Newcomb, grandson John Griffith, and son in law Randy Jensen. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Penn Yan Manor. Per his wishes there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 2:00pm at the Dresden United Methodist Church, 60 Cornelia St., Dresden. Burial will be at the Bellona Cemetery at a later time.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Penn Yan Manor, 655 Liberty St. Penn Yan
