Janet E. Berna

Janet E. Berna Age 86, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born in Staten Island, NY, the daughter of the late Herbert and Ethelyn (Dunfee) Berghorn. Janet got her degree in Education from Keuka College later in life and worked at St. Michael’s School in Penn Yan as a Pre K and Kindergarten teacher. She is survived by her children, Karen (James) Robideau, Ronald (Elizabeth) Berna, Annmarie (Robert) Flanagan, Brian (Beth) Berna, Patricia (Jed) Coffin, Paula (Ted) McMichael and Carl (Lisa) Berna. Her grandchildren, whom she adored, Jessica and Timothy Robideau, Shawna Melton, Megan Mills, Shannon Eller, Nicole, Ashley and Jacquelyn Berna, Cassidy McMichael, Brice Berna, Tanya and Amanda Gulde, Nicholas, William and Katherine Coffin, Jacob and Kyle Berna; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald J. Berna and her grandson, Joshua J. Berna. Calling hours will be Tuesday January 12th from 10 am-12 pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 312 Liberty St., Penn Yan, NY; followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 12 Noon. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Julie Wheeler-her friend and caregiver for several years, for all her care and kindness.
