Kenneth Duane Gifford

86, of Penn Yan, NY left this earthly plain to be with the love of his life, Shirley Clark Gifford, on October 27, 2025.

Ken was born on September 26, 1939 in Pulteney, NY to Carrie (Edwards) and Ronald D. Gifford, Sr. Ken and Shirley were married May 5, 1962 at the Penn Yan Methodist Church. At the age of 21, Ken joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada from 1960 – 64. His life’s vocation was in farming and agriculture, including dairy and crop farming. In his spare time, Ken was an active member and Trustee of the Mitchellsville, NY Methodist Church and life member and past president of the Moose Club in Penn Yan.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Ronna (Larry) Orr, granddaughter Kendra (Jarimie) Rugg, grandson Kyle Gillett, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his youngest brother, John P. Gifford of Waterloo, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Mae Clark Gifford in 2009, his parents, Ronald D. and Carrie (Edwards) Gifford, his mother-in-law, Velma Harrison Clark, his brothers, Ronald E. and Donald E., and sister Ida Mae Smith.

Honoring Ken’s wishes, there will be no services. A private graveside service will be held at the Bath V.A. Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of Ken’s life at a later date.
