Lyle R. Jensen

Age 85, of Penn Yan, N.Y. passed away on Wednesday (August 24, 2022) at The Homestead.

A lifetime resident of Penn Yan, Lyle was born in Penn Yan on May 15, 1937, the son of Frank and Viola (Wilkins) Jensen. He graduated from Penn Yan High Academy and served in the US Army Reserves from 1956 to 1957. He was a volunteer fireman at the Benton Fire Department his entire life and continued to attend meetings until June of this year.

Lyle was a dairy farmer for 50 years before becoming a Penn Yan District bus driver for 10 years. He enjoyed his retirement years puttering in the garden, fishing, driving for the Mennonites and spending time with family and friends at his camp in the woods.

Lyle is survived by his loving partner, Emma Miller; daughter, Tamie (Rick) Jensen; sisters, Joan Colf and Anna Johncox; brother, Leonard Jensen; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.

In addition to his parents, Lyle was predeceased by his son, William Jensen.

Family and friends joined together on Sunday (August 28) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Benton Center Fire Hall to celebrate his life.
