Mabel P. Pierle
Age 83, of Penn Yan, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on March 22, 2026.
Mabel devoted more than forty years to her profession as a pharmacist, serving her community with dedication and care. Alongside her husband, she proudly owned and operated Lane Drugs on Main Street in Penn Yan, where she became a familiar and trusted presence to generations of customers.
In retirement, Mabel’s lifelong love of learning and nature flourished. She was a Master Gardener—both by title and by temperament—creating vibrant flower and plant gardens that transformed her home into a living canvas. Her gardens were a source of joy not only for her family, but for anyone who passed by, and she shared her knowledge generously with others through her work with the Master Gardener program. Mabel approached gardening, as she did life, with independence, curiosity, and a belief that things should thrive on their own merits.
An avid reader with a sharp mind and quick wit, Mabel was known for her engaging conversations, thoughtful insights, and keen sense of humor. She had a remarkable ability to deliver wisdom with precision, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born in Ogdensburg, New York, on May 19, 1942, Mabel was the daughter of Glenn Pierce and Beatrice Pierce. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was the center of her world.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard Pierle; her son, Richard Pierle II (Stephanie) of Ringoes, New Jersey; her daughters, Christina Rider (Bernie Parmelee) of Penn Yan and Victoria Pierle (John Carroll) of Fairport; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Joy Pierle; and her cherished grandchildren, Kayla and Lindsay Pierle, Lee and Amy Rider, and Kristina Parmelee, all of whom she adored.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main Street, Penn Yan, on Saturday, April 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. A reception will be held immediately afterward at the Penn Yan Elks Lodge. A private burial for family will take place on Sunday, April 5.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mabel’s memory to Keuka Comfort Care Home, PO Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527, or to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital Foundation, 418 North Main Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
