Margot Dixon died on February 8 at age 82. Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, she lived for more than 40 years with her loving husband in Cranford in a home where she could always fit another place at her table—in that small house on Herning Avenue, there was always room for one more. She led a life filled with adventures big and small. She drank champagne in the south of France and ate pork roll-egg-and-cheese on the Jersey Shore. She was a connoisseur of Halloween, hot dogs, and Lord & Taylor sales. She liked her bacon crisp, her white wine cold, her laundry line-dried, and her children free-range. She adored her grandchildren, her cats, and her chips and dip. She was Little Muffin. She took her work responsibilities seriously and found satisfaction in a job well done, but never lost sight of life’s larger meaning. She knew joy and grief in their respective measure and accepted both with grace. Quietly devout, she didn’t let dogma get in the way of her faith. And while her final illness of Alzheimer’s robbed her of almost everything, it never took her sense of humor or her quiet forbearance. Hers was a life well-lived and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Margot is preceded in death by her husband Richard Dixon, parents Joseph and Margaret Sweeney, and brother Robert Sweeney. Margot is survived by her three children Richard, Jane, and Karen, seven grandchildren, many dear friends, and one final, empty packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix.
