Mary Pike

March 23, 1945 — December 20, 2025

Mary Pike, 80, of Penn Yan and Dresden, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Mary, lovingly known as “Hooky” or “Miss Mary,” was born on March 23, 1945 to her late parents Maynard and Grace Cohick. Mary grew up in Dresden and graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1963. She met her loving husband of almost 60 years, Arthur Pike, in 1965 when he was visiting the area while on leave from the U.S. Navy. They got married in 1966 just days before Arthur was deployed to Vietnam. Mary followed Art out to California during his time in the service, and afterward they moved back to Penn Yan and started their family.

Mary was truly devoted to her family. When it came to motherhood, she had endless love and wisdom for her children and grandchildren. She loved being involved in their lives growing up and even into adulthood. Mary’s daughter, Renee, is especially grateful for all the guidance and wisdom when it came time for her journey as a mother. Mary’s son, Tim, is especially grateful for all the support and encouragement given over the years.

Mary worked most of her life as a daycare provider. She did home daycare while raising her own children, and then she worked for over 30 years as a caregiver at Rainbow Junction. She spread so much love and kindness, helping to shape the lives of countless children over the years. Mary stepped away from working full time so she could babysit her two grandsons, Patrick and Collin. They were her pride and joy, and she devoted everything to shaping them into the young men they are today.

Mary will be remembered for her meticulous nature, her love of family, and her sharp memory full of endless stories from her lifetime. Holidays and family traditions were very important to Mary, and she made sure to pass this love on to her kids and grandkids who will continue to honor these in her memory.

Mary is survived by her husband Art Pike, her son Tim Pike (Tom Shaw), daughter Renee Reagan (Gary Reagan), and her grandsons Patrick and Collin Reagan.

There will be no calling hours, and the family will be holding a private celebration of life at their convenience, as per Mary’s wishes. Condolences may be offered to the family in her guestbook at www.WeldonFuneralHome.com. Weldon Funeral Home of Penn Yan is assisting the family.
