Patricia (VanBuren) Kennerson
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia (VanBuren) Kennerson on October 15, 2026.
Pat, as she was affectionately known, was born on August 21, 1943, in Canandaigua, NY and raised in the charming town of Penn Yan, NY, to Kenneth and Catherine (Tracy) VanBuren. Pat was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to her family and community when she was able. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Carlton Jay Kennerson Sr., her cherished sons, Joseph Hullings and Carlton Jay Kennerson Jr., her devoted parents, Kenneth and Catherine, her brother Michael VanBuren, and her sisters Elizabeth Ingram and Elaine Corbitt, and son-in-law Ronald Allen.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving children: Becki Blauvelt (Shawn), Susan Allen, Brian Kennerson (Michell), Thomas Kennerson, Shannon Kennerson, Cathy Kennerson (Joe), and sister Cathy Scott. Her spirit will also live on through her several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Pat was a constant presence in the Penn Yan area, where she spent most of her life. Her days were filled with simple joys that brought her immense happiness. She had a passion for garage saling, bargain shopping, and the thrilling game of Bingo. Holidays were particularly special to her, with Halloween holding a special place in her heart. Each year, she delighted in dressing up as a witch and bringing smiles to the faces of those in the community as she walked through town. Her family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff at Penn Yan Manor for their kind and loving care over the years.
Pat found a second home at the Manor, where she formed cherished friendships with residents, staff, and visitors alike. A celebration of Pat's remarkable life will be held at the Dundee Baptist Church, 20 Seneca Street, Dundee, on November 7, 2026 from 1:00pm-4:00pm, bringing together those who knew and loved her to share in memories of joy and laughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in Patricia's memory to the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home Inc. Though she is no longer with us, Patricia's warmth, kindness, and indomitable spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Arrangements kindly entrusted to Weldon Funeral Home of Penn Yan.
