Patricia Ann Orcutt

Patricia (Pat) Ann Orcutt passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at her home in Penn Yan, NY at the age of 91.

Pat was born in Elmira, NY on Dec. 17, 1930, the daughter of James A. Smith of Lodi, NY and Margaret (Reed) Smith of Johnstown, PA.  Pat and her parents briefly lived in Rochester before moving to Penn Yan in 1942.  She enjoyed her childhood growing up in the beautiful Finger Lakes region where she spent much of her time on the Keuka Lake.  Pat graduated from the “Old Penn Yan Academy” in 1948 and went on to receive a B.S. in Microbiology from Syracuse University in 1952. 

After she graduated, Pat was employed as a Bacteriologist at Syracuse Hospitals up until 1957 when she met and married Bill Orcutt of Erie, PA.  The couple relocated to Wisconsin Rapids, WI, where Pat established a bacteriology laboratory in the local hospital.  While living in Rapids, she also served on the City Council for many years.  Pat had a passion for creating miniatures, being involved in the local government, dining out with friends and family and spending time on the water. 

When she and Bill retired, they spent much of their summers driving their RV out to the Finger Lakes region (with their cats in tow) before permanently returning “home” to Penn Yan and building their dream home on Keuka Lake, just as Bill had promised.  Pat happily lived out the remainder of her life in their house on the lake alongside her husband and her beloved Siamese cats.  The couple enjoyed sharing their love of the Finger Lakes area and entertaining family and friends that would come and visit. 

She is survived by her two sons, David (Jane) Orcutt of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Stewart Orcutt of Geneva, NY; and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Heather Orcutt of Wisconsin Rapids. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Our sincerest thanks, to all of the loving care givers (friends) who assisted Pat in her later years and were at her side during the final days of her life.  

Pat was laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan on September 8, 2022.  A graveside memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held on October 8th.
