Randolph Bruce Cousins

81, of Aiken, S.C. and formerly of Penn Yan, N.Y., passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2023.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Trinity Hospice and Cumberland Village staff for their assistance with providing support and comfort to Bruce and his family. Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Aiken on Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m. Private inurnment will be in the church’s columbarium.

Bruce was born on October 25, 1941 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Carrie Royals Cousins and Randolph Brandis Cousins. His father died while Bruce was quite young, a profound experience that led to his future career choice. He wanted to be a funeral director to help and support other families through some of their most difficult times.

Bruce graduated from American Academy of Funeral Service in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1962-1968. In 1974, he and his wife Anne moved their young family to Penn Yan to purchase Weldon Funeral Home. He enjoyed serving the community for the next 20 years. Bruce was active in many civic organizations including; Rotary, The Elks Lodge, and the American Legion.

Bruce and Anne enjoyed a long and healthy retirement. They traveled extensively together and with friends. They never missed the birth of a grandchild and made many memories with their loved ones.

Bruce is survived by the love of his life Jean Anderson “Anne” Cousins, daughters Kim (Richard) Abney, Kari (Joseph) Passafume, and Karla (John) Holly, grandchildren Joseph (Amanda) O’Conor, Jennifer (Ethan) Lamont, Anthony (Bailey) Passafume, Matthew (Sophia) Abney, Kacie Abney, Lila Holly, and John Holly, great-grandchildren Kensleigh, Rhett, Joseph, Ella, and Chloe. He was predeceased by his parents and great-grandchildren Warren Anthony and Amelia Noel Passafume.

A memorial service was held Sunday afternoon, May 21 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Aiken.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to First Presbyterian Church of Aiken, 224 Barnwell Ave., NW, Aiken, SC 29801.
