Rita A. Belanger (Me'me),

86, of Chenago Forks, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 25, 2010, in Binghamton, NY. 

Rita was born on January 31, 1924 in Litchfield, NH. She is predeceased in death by her father and mother, Charles and Rose Gagnon-Bourdon; and her brothers and sisters, John Bourdon, Edward Bourdon, Dorothy Vanderloski, Irene Bourdon and Shirley Baldwin. She is survived by two sisters, Jeannette Brothers, Nashua, NH and Florence Dowling, Manchester, NH. 

She is also survived by her eight children, Roger R. Belanger, Topeka, KS, Nancy J. Belanger, Horseheads, NY, Charles F. Belanger, Van Etten, NY, Garry R. Belanger, Chenango Forks, NY, Kenny D. Belanger, Chenango Forks, NY, Wayne J. Belanger, Plymouth, NH, Steven R. Belanger, Ithaca, NY, and Mary Johnson, Concord, NH, 23 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, lifetime member and past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, New Hampshire. She received her GED and attended Corning Community College, Corning, NY. She was employed with Sheraton Hotel, Nashua, NH as a Director of Seamstress. She loved to knit, sew, listen to music (especially to all of her families music), bake pies and help out at the produce stand. She also loved playing pool and driving through the country side to enjoy the fresh air and scents of farm life.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan, NY, Monday, March 1, 2010. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Bellona Cemetery, Bellona, NY. Donations may be made in Rita's memory to the Disabled American Veterans organization, at your local chapter.
