Roy A. Franks

Age 80, of Branchport, NY, passed away January 20, 2022.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 25 at 4:00 pm, at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan.  Services will conclude with military honors.  There are no prior visiting hours. 

Roy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan Franks; children, Karl (Melissa) Franks of South Carolina, Peter (Julie) Bray of Texas, and Jennifer (Pat) Chichester of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Donna Levinson of Texas; four grandchildren, Mathew (Dean and Ophelia), Joseph (Amber), Nathan, and Erika; and five great-grandchildren, Isaiha, Wiley, Peyton, Logan, and Parker. He has lovely nieces Suzanne, Meredith, Marisa and Bethany, and their families, and he was very fortunate to also have many special friends.

Roy was born in Newark, NY, the son of the late Freeman and Glenna Franks.  He proudly served in the United States Navy.  He worked for many years for Fred A. Nudd Corporation in Ontario, NY, climbing, building, and working on towers. He eventually started indoor work, and ultimately retired from Valeo Electrical Systems in Rochester, NY, where he worked as a millwright and welder. Some of Roy’s favorite hobbies were to operate a backhoe or piece of large equipment on his 23+ acres and to run his weekend barn sales.
