Ruth M. Johncox

Age 90, of Penn Yan, passed away April 12, 2022.

The family will receive friends at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan on Saturday, April 23, from 12pm-2pm; followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm at the funeral home; burial at City Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at her home on Saturday, June 18, from 12pm-5pm.

Ruth was born in Penfield on August 7, 1931, the daughter of the late Fred and Ellen Weisschadel. She was also predeceased by her husband Aubrey Johncox in 2004; and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by three children, Ronald (Joyce) Johncox, Sue (David) Stratton, and Mark Johncox, all of Penn Yan; sister Margaret Stoddard of Fairport; and two grandsons, Brandan and Kendall Johncox. Ruth was the head-cook for almost 30 years at Camp Long Point, where everyone affectionately knew her as “Gram”. She enjoyed her family, her gardens and her lawns. She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law Audrey and daughter-in-law Joyce.
