Stephen Tousley
Age 78, of Canandaigua, (previously Penn Yan) passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Steve was born in Penn Yan, NY on November 18, 1946, the son of the late Harold and Elsie (Gottshall) Tousley. He was one of five siblings.
After graduating from high school in 1965 from Penn Yan Academy, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He married the love of his life Joan (Wilber) Tousley in July of 1975. He originally worked for Babcock Lumber in Farmington, Knapp and Schlappi Lumber Company in Penn Yan, and Pepsi-Cola in Geneva. He later became a Police Officer for the Penn Yan Police Department and worked as a volunteer for the Penn Yan Fire Department and the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance where he met Joan. Many people loved meeting him through his many years of sales with Rent-a-Vision, Rentway, and Home Necessities. He especially enjoyed driving bus for MOSAIC in Yates County in his later years.
He is dearly missed and loved by his wife of 50 years Joan; a daughter Tammy (Michael) Smith of Dundee, a son Bryan Tousley of Canandaigua. He will be deeply missed and loved by his two sons from a previous marriage, Chris Tousley (Hunt) of Georgia, and Kevin Tousley (Hunt) of Ohio. He is also survived by his brother and sister, Mark (Sandy) Tousley of North Carolina, and Sandy (John, Jr. “Skip”) Banach of Penn Yan; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Dan Tousley and Mike Tousley.
A Celebration of Life will be held November 8 starting at 1 pm, at WeBe Brewing at 796 Pre Emption Road in Geneva.
